Historical Highlights of Greece
DAY 1 Athens
On arrival you will be met by our assistant and transferred to your hotel by your private vehicle. Rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2 Athens
After breakfast we meet you at your hotel for a full day Athens sightseeing tour. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city.
First we will have a panoramic tour including Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896, Prime Minister's residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
Then we move on to the Acropolis visit: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon followed by The Acropolis museum where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era.
Overnight in Athens
DAY 3 Nafplion
Early in the morning, departure for a 5 day classical land tour. First day we proceed to Nafplio via Corinth Canal where we will have a short photo stop. Then we will visit ancient Epidaurus theatre, famous for its acoustics. Next stop is Nafplio town, where we will spend the rest of the day strolling around the first capital of Greece. Overnight in Nafplio.
DAY 4 Olympia
In the morning depart for Mycenae, to visit the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon.
Then proceed to Olympia through the central Peloponnesus. Overnight in Olympia town.
DAY 5 Delphi
In the morning we will visit the sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium and the archaeological museum. After some free time in Olympia town we will drive towards Delphi via Patras and the bridge of Rio-Antirio across the Corinthian Bay. Overnight in Delphi.
DAY 6 Kalambaka
Early departure to visit the museum and the archaeological site of Delphi, one of the important archaeological treasures, also listed as a UNESCO world Heritage site. Then continue to Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing rock formations of Meteora, via Central Greece. Overnight in Kalambaka.
DAY 7 Athens
In the morning departure towards Meteora, amidst striking scenery, perched on huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. We will visit one monastery in Meteora. In the afternoon return back to Athens with a short stop at the heroic monument of Leonidas at Thermopylae. Overnight in Athens.
DAY 8 Athens/Airport
After breakfast you will be met by our assistant at your hotel and transferred to the airport by your private vehicle for your departure flight.
